The society we are living in is ever changing. One of the most dynamic fields is that of information and communication. Today world has become a small village in the sense that conversation is possible between people thousands kilometers away from each other. As the world embrace all these changes we need to reevaluate the importance of every invention and innovation to ensure sustainable development where social, economic and environmental wellbeing of current and future generation is guaranteed. The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) need to be considered. Socially Responsible Investments (SRI) should be given the first priority. Equator principles by financial industry should also be employed to ensure social and environmental responsibility.

Here is the definition and significance of various terms

Sustainable development
To start with development is a situation associated with constant growth in economic growth, good health facilities, high literacy rate, good transport and telecommunication networks and generally high standards of social welfare. Sustainable development is the   development that ensures environmental social and economic welfare of the current generation without compromising the needs and wants of future generation.

MDGs
This is abbreviation to Millennium Development Goals. According to United Nations (2010), MDGs are to end poverty, ensure universal education, gender equality, child health, and maternal health, combat HIVAIDs, environmental sustainability and global partnership.

SRI
This is abbreviation to Socially Responsible Investment this ensures that economic agents conserve the environment and give priority to project which lead to sustainable development.

Micro corruption
Micro corruption means acts by individuals either companies or persons
to obtain favor or wealth without using laid down procedures. This type of corruption is a great threat to smooth running of government especially on the services it offers to its citizens.

Equator principles
Equator principles are benchmarks that set framework and baseline for implementation of internal environmental and social procedures and standards for project financing across all industries. It is quite important to note that MDGs, SRI, and Equator and principles are one of the ingredients to ensure sustainable development

Internet as defined is world network of computers. The effect of internet on political participation and social movements is great. Most political campaigns has gone to internet with political parties posting information about their parties and their candidates information on the web. The voters can post their political wishes to the government website. Electronic voting has been introduced in some countries in the world which make it easier for foreigners to vote in their home countries. People can register and subscribe to social organizations electronically. This is a clear indication that modern global public sector should endeavor to automate most of information it need people to know. It should also embrace internet to promote democracy, enhance efficiency and offer better services.

International system has complicated the efforts to promote global peace and security and to prevent conflict and war. Terrorists have used internet to communicate with their counterparts in different countries when planning to bomb or invade a place. International system has also some authenticated sites which contain information which are accessible to selected groups. Much of the information in these sites contains information on how to plan wars and attacks.

Business has both a positive and negative impact with respect to sustainability, in recent times efforts are being made to reduce the negative and support the positive.  Some of these efforts include the introduction of the SRI which requires businesses to take into account environmental ethical and social aspects of an investment considering the future of human and his health.  Most businesses have employed various strategies to ensure sustainability. These include innovation of products which are eco friendly, aligning business actions to support the local communities goals and objectives while embracing long term partnership with local community. Many companies have also been sponsoring activities like sports and tree planting. Some have introduced paperless offices to reduce negative environmental impact.It is of great importance for every person to get involved in this good efforts by businesses. Individually I have big role to play. These may include, tree planting, properly disposing waste and being innovative to reduce use of available resources
