Racism and Discrimination
Discrimination will take forms more than can be captured here. However, the forms will always fall under economic, religious, social, racial, gender and even age based. Most pronounced are racial, gender and social. Proponents of the sociological theories argue that social equality is always hampered by deterred intermarriages. Du Bois argues that even with the shear mention of intermarriage, brings with it a lot of reprimanding. This perpetuates discrimination. He argues that this is precipitated by rumors that certain races are inferior or superior.
In all aspects I strongly feel the Marxists, Multicultural and radicals assertion that could as much reduces the other forms of discrimination insofar as general discrimination is concerned. We should use feminism to combat other forms of discrimination as we ensure feminism is kept to low-reasonable levels. I feel Jerry Chapmans assertion that there is no way man can be equal to a woman without the change of mens roles in society has no basis. This change in roles should be adopted across all the forms of discrimination. At the place of work for instance, not just the man should be the foreman there should be a forewoman too
There is another perception that the world is mens. Sometimes women are simply viewed as general domestic servants who, for that matter, are responsible for all domestic chores (www.thefreelibrary.com). Is this not one of the strongest fallacies Is there existence not so dependent Who can claim to be a dependent variable Is there any Both are significant others relative to the subject of reference.
Doesnt this preposition by a feminist indicate that there is room for any woman to improve
Recent statistics in some sections of the country have shown that for those under the age of thirty, equal pay for equal work has arrived in the workplace for women, Hispanics and African-Americans (it has been there for some time for Asian-Americans and gays). Great Workplace gender discrimination is fading (www.psychologyhelp.com)
Women can still claim equality even with children. I strongly feel children belong to two people. A man and a woman. I differ strongly differ with this assertion by de Beauvoir. Women will proudly want to sire children either in marriage or outside marriage. I see this perception as defeating the whole course for equality and reduced discrimination.
The assertion by Jean Jacques Rousseau is in all senses true that there is no way women can be different and equal at the same time. But I differ with him in principle. Men and women are physically different but it is the social, economic, political and legal interpretation of these differences that lead to inequality between them. (www.globaleducation.edna.edu.au)
While theories on racism do indicate drastic change of racism and feminism as Lauren asserts, the world is such that we should move from one level to another until we reach perfection. One can not be perfectly free and the fight for freedom from racism and feminism will be on for as long as humankind. By Maslows theory of human needs, even freedom will have levels Laurens assertion is simply a show of general goodwill
Racial prejudice has been with us since ancient times and is not about to disappear. Nevertheless, the progress made since World War II in recognizing and combating it as a problem of worldwide concern is a major achievement. Indeed there is considerable progress. If this progress is to remain as systematic as it seems, then draconian definitive remarks such as was quoted from Lenores book should be pushed far behind our minds. Women who do not have legs, loud-mouthed man-haters with unshaved legs. Feminists are lesbians and not nice. (Lenore L, 2004 pp 64).
By any standards really, if there is anybody who believes the best way for fighting for equality is becoming a man-hater, then the person has missed the goal. The goal for feminism is equality equal rights to opportunity and ascribed privileges. Pick all terms related to this key topic, but ultimately the underlying objective and driving force is equality. We should remain conscious just like Martin Luther did in leading the black minority movement into freedom, let us not lose sight of our course and respect of the white majority, as is evidenced by the presence of our white friends here. In this vital course let us not lose sight of the goal Real Equality.
