Events-- The Brock s family consists of father, mother, daughter and son. It is an African American middle class family. There is a unusual development within the family which led to a crisis situation whereby the vanes the wife after Tia leaves for college she relocates at her parents home leaving her husband and son to live all by themselves. She visits daily to clean and cook. Both children react to the sudden change in relationships between parents by Corey experimenting with alcohol and Tia has unexplained weight loss. The family is referred for therapy. Corey does not show up after the first and Dereck goes reluctantly.
