Title IX

Title IX was introduced to enhance equity in sports participation for both girls and boys. There have been many suggestions of doing away with Title IX.  This law should continue to be in effect because it eliminates discrimination. It was introduced in 1972 to take course in the educational programs supported by the federal. This law found much critic with the argument that it was faced with federal impediment with the aim of controlling sports.  There have been existing arguments on the effects of this law on mens sport.  Although it is perceived to be clinched on one side, this law advocates for equal treatment in sports. It helps girls and women participate in sports without many hurdles (dol.gov, n.d.). Title IX has enabled booming in womens athletes.  This law advocates for many legal decisions which introduces fair treatment.

There has been much controversy surrounding Title IX today. This has been as a result of the deemed consequences on mens sports. The law advocates for equity in all subjects apart from sports. Many confuse the law as if it is applicable to sports only. It calls for equal participation in various fields without referring to sex. There has been continuous increase in the number of girls participation in sports since the law was enacted. It should be noted that the law revived many burning issues in the field of sports. Women were discriminated from participating in sports. The fields set for women sports were not well maintained. Much effort was laid on mens sports sidelining women. Therefore, it is necessary for Title IX to be practiced in order to increase women participation in sports. In conclusion, Title IX calls for equality in sports and should not be done away with (dol.gov, n.d).
