The Cuban Revolution was the period when Fidel Castro overthrew Fulgencio Batista. This happened in the year 1959.The Cuban people had previously been subjected to high levels of dictatorship. Through the support of the guerilla fighters and the masses, Castro came into power, and advocated for a Marxist-Leninist Society.

Castro also encouraged women to join the labor force and urged men to allow the women enjoy liberation. On the other hand, the violation of human rights in Cuba led to some Cubans fleeing to other Islands. Castro inhibited private investment by nationalizing all the industries.
