Life Debt Film

The movie Life and Debts happens to be a documentary film that puts much of its concentration on the profound and distressing financial system that exists in Jamaica. The movie also demonstrates or rather shows the way Jamaica has been dealing with its long and unsorted out debts to the global lending associations. These debts have resulted to the country wearing down most of its crop production and growth which are very essential for its economy. The movie deals with a number of guidelines which happen to be internationalized which are implemented by most of the leading international organizations in the financial or economic world. Some of the large organizations that are analyzed in the movie are such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Funds.

The movie also touches on the existing depiction of the transitional labor while at the same time it emphasis the ongoing conspiracy of punitive force and capitalism in what is now referred to as globalization. This concept is brought out in the movie through the descriptive storyline and the gripping presentation of the Jamaican people within what can be termed as a zone of militarized system of watch over walls. The documentary has presented the Jamaican work force as an instrument for capital erection which is necessary for large scale global business. There have been a lot of cases of exploitation of the poor nations by the rich nations and this has been clearly demonstrated in the film by the act of clearly safeguarding the continuations of the workforce that is closely controlled. This is usually associated with poor governance and bad politics which are also clearly demonstrated in the film.

The movie has used some black people and this is a clear presentation of the way the power of labor has over the years turned out to be a commodity centered system. Due to this, the country is too weak economically such that even a thirty dollar wage is too high for the country to support. It is therefore clear that the black portrays the work force that is in transition from Asia. Initially, I thought that the international financial organizations had an aim of helping the needy but I have come to learn that there is a lot of exploitation that takes place between the poor nations and the rich. I have also learned that these international organizations do not give their assistance for free there are usually something attached to the so called assistance that they offer. This is something that I did not know and I have learned it from this film.

It is always necessary that a person have a clear understanding of what is happening in our world. Politics and economics are some two inseparable activities that we will always come across. I therefore found this movie an eye opener and it shows how these two exists. If one has been wondering the reason why those poor nations keeps on getting poorer while the rich are getting richer, then this is the movie as it clearly givens an answer to this question using Jamaica as an example.

This movie is therefore very helpful and it answers a lot of political and economic questions concerning our globe. We are living in the world that is growing very fast and therefore we have to be properly informed about it and what is happening. I would therefore recommend this movie to all those people who have interest in the world economics. I would also recommend the movie to all those students who are taking political science and economics as it provides a good base and some answers that keep bothering us.
