Question 1 What was going on at station C and how were their mindsets about it different
There were basically four characters in the station C the mice named Sniff and Scurry and two little people named Hem and Haw. The cheese could be taken as anything which could satisfy the needs and aspirations of the human beings. There were quite differences in the mindsets of the mice and the little people. The mice, just used their basic instincts to search the cheese and enjoyed in when they got it. Hem and Haw on the other hand became complacent of the fact that the station belonged to them and everything became monotonous for them. They actually were not earning their cheese, but were just assured of the fact that they deserved each and every bit of cheese. They also were not open to changes and were pretty happy in the current situation.
Question2 How did Hem Haw react to the unravelling situation at station C (pps 33-38) What caused their reaction How did their reaction work for them
Answer One day, Hem and Haw reached the station to find no cheese whatsoever was left in the cheese station. They did not believe that all the cheese in the station has been consumed and did not accept the reality that nothing at all is left for them to consume. The reason for their reaction was the fact that they did not take into account the small changes which lead to this ultimate change. they were pretty complacent in their position and did not agree to change in accordance to the situation. Their reaction worked particularly against them as all the cheese was gone and they were not just accepting the reality. They were even at the verge of non-survival.
Question3 At the same time that Hem Haw were at station C what were Sniff and Scurry doing
Answer Sniff and Scurry are the characters of people who do accept the changes quickly. These two characters did not mourn about the absence of cheese in one particular situation as they always were ready for any such condition. They wasted little time and carried on their job of finding more cheese as they believed that somewhere down the line, there might be lot of cheese, they just had to find that.
Question4 Hem and Haw then took different lines of action (pps40-50). How did they each cope, what skills did they use, and how did their coping mechanisms work for them
Answer At first, both Hem and Haw were thoroughly disappointed to learn that cheese was gone. But Haw had decided in the end that he needs to find new cheese and accept the reality. Hem on the other hand was always in the false hope that the cheese in station C will come back and did not move for changing his attitude.
Question5 What did Haw learn about fear (p55-63)
Answer Haw realized that fear is nothing but a state of mind. One needs to move forward and conquer the fears. He realized that when he would move beyond his fears, he would definitely feel free and would be able to accomplish the goals.
Question6 What role did imagery play for Haw (p57)
Answer Imagery helped Haw to get positive motivation for succeeding in his objective. He imagined himself eating and enjoying the cheese and that gave him the power to work quickly in accordance to the objectives.
Question7 What did Haw learn about himself and whyhow he had changed (p70)
Answer He realized that he unnecessarily opposed the change. He learnt how afraid he was about the changes which do happen all the time. He changed because somewhere down the line, he had the fear of starvation which was even greater fear as compared to anything else.
Question8 What can we learn from the way that Sniff and Scurry dealt with the situation
Answer Sniff and Scurry kept the things really simple. The best thing which could be learnt from them is the fact that we need to keep the focus on the target. Their target was to find cheese and consume it and so they did it. Sniff and Scurry did not oppose change and moved accordance to the tides of time and that is why they were happy and never in the state of depression or disappointment.
Question9 What can we learn from looking at Hem and Haws relationship and how they coped and changed (p70-74)
Answer Hem and Haw both first of all resisted change. But Haw did the wise thing by changing himself in the end and adapted in accordance to the situation. The best thing about Haw was he overcame his fears. Hem on the other end, did not move from his present situation and resisted change all along and went in the state of depression.
Question10 Who were you in the story
Answer To be very honest, I could very well portray myself in the role of Haw, who resists change at the first instance but at the end, has no choice but to adopt accordingly. This is most common characteristic found in human beings.
Question 11What stood out to you in the story
Answer The best part about the story is that Cheese could be anything. It is not just based for job or any other thing in particular. One can take this story and could implement in any aspect of his life. The wide area of implementation has been the best part of the story and of course the simplicity of explanation.
Question12 What of people do you think are afraid of change
Answer Well, according to my expectations, more that 90 people are afraid of changes and most of them resist changes on the first attempt.
Question13 Name three things that you may do if you were not afraid
Answer The three things which I would have done if I were not afraid was
Going for business rather than searching for jobs
Trying my hand in wrestling
Being part of politics to bring about change in the overall society.
