Employee registration for Disability insurance in the workplace

A large number of employees understand the benefits of disability insurance but there are other reasons, other than the knowledge of its benefits, which cause the employees not to own disability policies through the work place. Employees have the need to insure themselves against uncertainties related to the misfortunes that may occur in the work place and disrupt continuous flow of income. Such misfortunes cause the employees to terminate employment or stay out of work for along period of time. Employees are concerned about the loss of income and they take insurance cover to protect themselves against such events. Disability may cause permanent inability to work and employees need to insure themselves.

There are several causes of failure by the employees to register for Disability insurance in the workplace. The main cause of such failure is the poor payment of benefits to those employees who deserve them. Many employees are denied their benefits by the employees even when they deserve to be given. Delays in receiving the benefits have been reported and this has resulted to low registration into such schemes by the employees. Some employees result into employing a lawyer to file a court case so that their rights can be given. This is becoming expensive and time wasting. The government has not given adequate support to employees on their efforts to achieve their rights against employers who fail to give their benefits in a timely and proper manner.

Conclusion
The government should step in and solve the increasing problem of poor payment of disability insurance benefits to employees. Many organizations are delaying these payments while others deny such payments. Legal actions should be set up to avoid such cases.
