The 21st century modern male has got very many choices when it comes to living in the society. These choices are made in different ways when compared to the past male. In the past, the male was considered as the only figure that could be in authority. In the present this has changed such that the male dominion over the females is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Another factor is the absolute word that males had. Unless the male was a servant or insubordinate staff, there was no question to authority. Whether the actions were right or wrong, women had no say to their men counterparts. In the modern day however, a lot of things have changed. The four major changes have been experienced in sports, power, strength and physical contact.                                             

Strength
Strength in the modern day United States can be seen as a property of males due to several factors. There are two types of strength which are physical and psychological. Physical strength is mostly known to be prevalent with the males in modern United States. One of the reasons behind this fact is that the body buildings centers that are in the country are mostly filled with men. Body building is considered as a way to express strength. When a person who has a large body is in the presence of a smaller person, people will tend to pay attention to the bigger person. This is attributed to the physiological effect that strength has. In modern United States, the size of a male individual will be directly related to their respect. The stronger and bigger a person is, the more the person will be respected. However, physical strength is no longer what it used to be. This is because of the fact that it can only be used against a one on one confrontation. With the changes in technology, other types of strength are being used to replace physical strength.

When it comes to physiological strength, the factors are very different. This type of strength can be seen to be quickly catching up. The basis of such strength is very diverse. For example, a person can be small physically but strong physiologically. A mafia boss for instance might be slender and with an out of shape body. However, when they appear somewhere, they are seen to instill fear through physiological strength. Such a person cannot be touched by even the strongest person. This is attributed to the fear that a person of such stature can be able to do. The reason why psychological strength is becoming popular over physical strength is the simple power that it has. It is seen to be more than ten times powerful than physical strength.

Power
Power has been considered to be a male domain since time in memorial. In the older days, men were the only gender who could be considered for a position of power. Though this is changing in the present day, it still has effects on the male gender. The modern day United States is a society that is moving quickly towards gender equality. As a result, power has been seen to be equally shared between men and women. Though this is the case, most men will be seen to resent the fact. It is said that power is considered as a male territory. This is the reason why a male individual will try his level best to win any competition against a female individual. In the event that a male looses against a female, they are considered as weak and not masculine enough.

In political America, you will find that women politicians are becoming more and more. Since politics is considered as a game for the intelligent and powerful, their male counterparts will be found to be doing everything possible to make sure that they have a majority. When a male politician is placed against a female opponent, most people expect the male individual to win. In the event that the female individual wins, the male will be seen to inferior and without any powers. Some of them are condemned by their relatives and friends. Though this is changing rapidly, it will be some time before modern United States fully accepts female power. 

Physical contact
Physical contact is considered as the touch between one entity and another. Though there are very many meanings to the word, this is generally the meaning behind it. In modern United States, male physical contact will be found to be one of a kind. For example, when you come across a couple, the male will inmost cases hold the female around the waist. This is normally taken as a sign of love. In the past, the gesture was used to announce that the female who is held had been taken and no man should try and get near her. In the present however, such a gesture is considered to be one of love. Other types of physical contact that will be seen with male are the constant caresses and kisses. If a male does not show such gestures in public with the woman that they love, they are considered to be bored or disinterested with the woman.

Other types of physical contact will be those that are rough. This can be through hitting in order to inflict pain. Such types of contact are mainly through punches and slaps. In the event that a normal and common modern day United States male gets angry, the common physical reaction will be to slap someone. This is mainly done when dealing with women. If a man slaps another man, it is considered as a show of ridicule and disrespect to the other man. When a man punches another man, to show that he considers him an equal male and the punch is used to demonstrate anger at them. Most physical contacts by male are either violent or non-violent.

Sports
Sports is a very wide topic and is known to be a pastime for males internationally. There are very many types of sports that are available worldwide. In the past, sports were considered to be a male territory. Women were only allowed to participate in sports as spectators. Sports can be seen in two main lights. These are the sportsmen and the fans. In the modern day United States, sports are still a male domain. Sportsmen will be found to be engaging in different sports all over the country. These sports are normally considered to be hard and demanding and therefore not a place for the female gender. A sports man will be considered as a person who is physically fit and also a start. This will be taken into account in the event that the sportsman is a person who is performing. There are many types of sports that are present in the United States. The ones that are mostly watched and participated will be American Football and basketball. A sportsman who is a player of a team that is successful in American Football will be viewed with awe in the public eye. The fans who watch such sports are normally men. In most households, when a football game or basketball game is going on, women are generally absent. They are normally told to do other things and if they must watch, they should not interrupt the game at any time. When the games have a reached a major part like quarter finals, some of the men will invite friends so that they can watch the game. In the event that they cannot be able to watch the game in the comfort of their living room, they will watch it in a local sports bar. During the high sports season, most household quarrels will be a result of sports. Such quarrels will be as a result of disagreement between the household members on whether to see sports or view other channels.  Male members of a household are deemed as the head of that house hold. With this in mind, you will find that there will be some orders that they will give and expect people to follow them. Sometimes, the power can be misused. This is especially seen during sports games whereby the head of the house can declare that he is going to watch all the games. As a result, the other members of the house will either have to watch the games or seek other alternatives.

Conclusion
Though the properties of the modern day American man are different form the past, they will be revolving along more or less the same principle. In the animal kingdom, all males are known to be power hungry, stronger than their female counterparts and use masculine physical contact. Though this is slowly changing, definite changes are yet to be seen.
