Individuals and Society

Man is by nature a social animal. It is because of this reason that human beings live as a society. The relationship between individual and society is embedded in a mutual relation (Clow, 2009). Individuals seek a society for enhancing the harmonious coexistence of mankind in the society.

Maintaining laws and order in the human community is a crucial relationship between individuals and the society. Individuals by nature are self centered (Clow, 2009). This means minimized chances for the survival of the otherwise disadvantaged individuals in the world. Society is a collection of individuals. This has the implication that the government is a society which seeks to uphold equal rights to all for sustainable coexistence of individuals.

Another relationship between individual and society is continuation of culture (Clow, 2009). It is only by transferring information from generation to generation that sustainable development, peace and innovation can be realized. This is best achieved in a social setting as other members live to witness, practice and improves achievements of individuals (Clow, 2009).

Collective responsibility forms a strong relationship between individuals and society. As the saying goes, united we stand, divided we fall. Based on this reasoning individual seek a social live as a source of support or strength in dealing with life problems. In a national sense, societal life gives individuals bargaining power for their rights (Clow, 2009).

In my opinion, individuals shape the society. Society as is known today is formed of individuals who have a common objective in life. Therefore, it is only by what the individuals agree on that will dictate their conduct and behavior. Still, societal cultures, norms and beliefs are constantly changing due to the influence of individuals.  All this means that individuals will always shape the society by their influence.
Clow, F. (2009).
