Racial Profiling

The recent racial profiling that happened at the University of Chicago caught the attention of other students, professors and other people nationally. It has been a disturbing and irrational part of the U.S criminal justice yet we still dont give enough acknowledgment. People has been treated unjustly because of their color since the past centuries. Racial profiling involves police officers interrogating people and uses race as their reason for doing such act. It is also a motivating factor in having suspicion from people.

According to Tom Heads Racial Profiling in the  United States web blog, King Charles I mandated all natives of America should submit to the Spanish authority and to convert to Roman Catholicism or else they will face persecution. (Head). During the World War II, the U.S. government, in fear of potential spies from Japan, sent hundred of thousands Japanese in detention. As a result to that people said that it was one of the most ungodly act of the U.S. Government.

Under the constitutional law, if a police officer stops a car for a not so big traffic violation, he may search the car given that the driver lets him. Police officers are more likely to search black motorists rather than white motorists for illegal drugs and other contrabands. Due to a frequent racial profiling, the civil rights groups demanded a stricter limitations regarding vehicle search.

During the attacks of 911, most of the people who were arrested were Arabs. People from the Middle East were being questioned regarding the matter. Some people said that it was just right for them to be questioned for the terrorists were Arabic however, the civil rights group were opposing them for they are being questioned because of their ethnicity.

I strongly believe that we need to put more effort in solving this kind of problem in our country. We better not be ruled by any bias matter for everything was created equal. We should have more laws in seeking justice for people who are being treated badly because of their color or race.
