My Daughter The Terrorist Film Summary

The documentary featured two 24-year old ladies, Darshika and Puchalchudar, both members of the LTTE Tamil Tigers of Sri Lanka. They have their personal reasons of joining the LTTE Black Tigers movement but are joined by the idea of their loyalty to their leaders which drove them to leave their families order to carry out the goals of the movement. Such goals are based on the conflict regarding the ownership of the Tamil community homeland, a conflict that ignited a civil war in 1983 that has claimed approximately 67, 000 lives since then. The LTTE Black Tigers is best known for their suicidal bombing acts and one specific has resulted to the death of Sri Lankan leader, President Premadasa. Questions
The most important thing you learned at this event
For me, the most important thing that I learned from the movie is the idea that war and other military conflicts should be tackled with peaceful talks and not with bloody battles because the latter can only result to the loss of lives which means that neither of the opposing groups will stand as winners in the end. Governments must exert more efforts to address the demands of the terrorists while being faithful to their national laws in order to decrease, if not totally eliminate, the occurrence of war and death.

The least interesting thing about this event
I believe that the whole part of the movie is interesting. None of the segments of the film were boring for me because each story is a part of an important thread and must be well considered to be able to comprehend the genuine message of the film.

How did this event enhance your understanding of international issues
The movie enhanced my understanding of international issues by providing me with real-life stories from the perspective of actual terrorists. It was able to arouse my interest on national and international conflicts that is fueled by issues of land ownership. This film was able to awaken my senses and I realize that we should not instantly judge the terrorists in a negative way because they too have their own obstacles to face.
