Dr. Julianne Malveaux
Education
Dr. Julianne Malveaux, an African American, was born on the 22nd of September 1953 in San Francisco, California. Dr. Malveauxs interests lie in the field of economics with the focus of her research revolving around public policy, labor market and the effects of various economic and public policies on women and different ethnicities andor races. Dr. Malveaux achieved her Bachelors of Arts in 1974 and Masters of Arts in 1975 from the famous Boston College in the span of three years before she moved on to pursue her PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1980 in the subject of Economics, a subject which had always aroused her interest.
Dr. Malveaux also holds degrees from various other institutions such as the Benedict College, Sojourner Douglass College and the University of the District of Columbia. Clearly she has a very strong educational background which is reflected through her highly busy and intellectual career choice. As stated earlier, Dr. Malveaux is a writer, economist, businesswomen and commentator by profession so she has a highly tight schedule (Stephanie. J. Jones, Dr. Julianne Malveaux, 2008).
Career
After completing her education Dr. Malveaux returned to her hometown of San Francisco and started working as an assistant professor at the San Francisco University from 1981 to 1985. After this, she worked as a visiting scholar and professor at the University of California from 1985 to 1992 where she engaged in teaching the courses of public policy and economics and also a very important course called the African American studies.
As a writer, Dr. Malveauxs works are published in various syndicates, newspapers and journals some of which are Black Issues in Higher Education, Essence Magazine, USA Today, The Progressive, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Examiner, San Francisco Sun Reporter, Detroit Free Press, New Orleans Tribune and several more such publications.
It is not only the publications where Dr. Malveaux was renowned she appeared in various television shows and radio talk shows as well. She is a regular visitor of the CNN, BET and the Howard Universitys very own television show. Additionally, she also appeared on Fox News Channels O Reilly factor, Politically Incorrect at ABC, MSNBC, and CNBC as well as various radio talk shows across Washington, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Dr. Malveaux is a popular authority in the fields of national affairs, economic policy, politics, gender, race, culture etc and many of her works have made major contributions in the stated fields. She has also contributed her time and effort towards civil rights, women rights and various other organizations working for women. She is also a member of the board of directors of the American Economic Association, National Child Labor Committee, Delta Sigma Theta, National Economic Association and the renowned Bay Area Association of Black Journalists. Dr. Malveauxs latest writings are based on topics such as the labor market, black people and the US economy, Michelle Obama, compensating differentials, Barack Obama, black women and sexual assault, the war in Iraq, Osama Bin Laden, economic caution and numerous other topics.
Accomplishments
Through her consistent work and extensive knowledge, Dr. Malveaux has had major accomplishments in the fields she works in. She has brought about a change in the way the American society thinks through her works on culture, gender, racism, politics and economics through public dialogue which she has successfully propelled. Although she has been entitled to several awards but the most important was the Arthur. A Fletcher award which she received for her advocacy, support and dedication towards equal opportunity through affirmative action.
Criticisms
Although it is quite evident that Dr. Malveaux is working for a noble cause but she has been victim to various criticisms and controversies throughout her carrier. A major criticism based on her work is that she focuses mostly on the rights and plight of black Americans which tends to create a bias towards white people. People term her as being too pro-black which is unfair to other races, ethnicities and cultures (Malveaux Julianne, 2008).
Conclusion
Dr. Juliana Malveaux is a prominent figure in the United States for her exemplary works and publications regarding economics, gender, racism etc. She is a highly knowledgeable and intellectual authority and her works reflect this clearly.
